At ASUA’s Step Up Institute, our Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) are comprehensive and go beyond isolated, detached assessments. Our core comprehensive IEE includes a full psycho-educational evaluation (cognitive, academic, adaptive, social-emotional, and behavioral), along with speech and language, and occupational therapy evaluations. Integrating these assessments into one coordinated evaluation provides a holistic understanding of a student’s strengths and needs; and shows how a student can be effectively, and appropriately, supported in the school setting. This all-inclusive approach alleviates the burden on families to seek multiple providers and reduces the time it takes for appropriate supports to be implemented.
The Step Up Institute also offers stand-alone evaluations to address specific areas of need, including Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), Speech and Language Evaluations, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Evaluations, Occupational Therapy (OT) Evaluations, and Physical Therapy (PT) Evaluations. This flexibility allows families to pursue highly individualized, targeted assessments. Throughout the IEE process, ASUA’s school psychologist partners closely with families and is available for consultation. Upon completion, families meet with the school psychologist to review the report in depth and discuss clear, actionable recommendations.
